Our Consultants - George Walker

George Walker is a Professor in International Financial Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University London. He is Deputy Head of the International Financial Law Unit and Head of the Banking and Finance as well as Law and Development Divisions. George is also a Senior Fellow in Banking Law at the London Institute of International Banking, Finance and Development Law and a Professorial Fellow at the Asian Institute of International Financial Law, University of Hong Kong as well as the Institute for International Banking and Finance Law, Dallas, Texas.

George has been: Legal Consultant with Farrer & Co, Solicitors, London and has been solicitor with various Edinburgh and City of London Law Firms; Legal Consultant to the International Monetary Fund; Affiliate Lecturer in Law, Cambridge University; Visiting Researcher, Harvard University; External examiner, Hong Kong University; Senior Examiner, Securities Institute (formerly the London Stock Exchange). He has also been consultant to significant law reform projects including with the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Asia Development Bank, and various national governments. He has been involved in more than 28 separate country law reform projects to date.

Publications & Conference Presentations
George is author of the leading reference texts European Banking Law: Policy and Progamme Construction (British Institute of International and Comparative Law 2007) and International Banking Regulation - Law, Policy and Practice (Kluwer, 2001). His several other book publications include as co-author of the leading UK texts on Banking and Financial Services Regulation (Butterworths, 3rd edn 2002) and Blackstone's Guide to the Financial Services and Markets Act (Blackstone’s 2001). He is an Assistant Editor of the Encyclopaedia of Banking Law (5 Volumes, Looseleaf) and of the monthly online Banking Law Update. He is Assistant Editor of Butterworths Financial Regulation Services (5 Volumes, Looseleaf) and has been Executive Editor of the Financial Times, Financial Regulation Report and now Informa, Financial Regulation International and co-editor of various book series. George has also published many refereed and other journal articles as well as made numerous book chapter and conference contributions.
